APPEARANCE;
Kazu is not especially tall, he stands at 5'4", however he is only 15 so there's definitely a chance for him to get a growth spurt still (though the fact that he is almost always wearing his A-Ts probably adds about three inches to his height). He's also pretty skinny as well as only 108 lbs. He has natural blonde hair and blue eyes, hinting at the fact that while he's Japanese, one of his parents might be of European descent (they're never shown as they're traveling abroad). He always wears a beanie and he always wears a hooded shirt. When not in his school or team uniform he seems to favor wearing skinny jeans. He is also almost always wearing his A-Ts (basically two wheeled roller blades) as opposed to sneakers. He usually wears fingerless gloves when he has his A-Ts on as well.
PERSONALITY;
Kazu is a pretty quiet guy. He has a tendency to fade into the background. This amazing ability to go unnoticed by others is one of the key reasons for his confidence issues. He's always felt that he's constantly surrounded by people who are better and more talented then he is, and constantly worries that his inadequacies will bring down the rest of the team While he has gotten better about it recently, he has always doubted himself and his skills in this way. This in turn makes him nervous. It's pretty easy to tell when he's feeling this, because he tugs his beanie down when his nerves are getting to him. Though if he tugs it down lower over his eyes it probably means he's just embarrassed.
Occasionally when up against a particularly dangerous opponent his lack of confidence can be nearly crippling. His doubts paralyze him. Usually he snaps out of it after a few moments, but until then he's pretty frozen up. Sometimes he actually needs someone to yell at him or smack him a little to snap him out of it.
Though quiet and lacking in confidence, he does secretly wish he was more popular, and can't stand it when people who look more interesting then he is transfer into his class (thinking it'll only make him fade even more into the back ground). Ironic considering he's not really aware of the fact that he is not only very popular with the girls at his school (having been voted the 'best looking guy in school' for the yearbook more then once), but also possess a rather large online fanbase as well.
Speaking of school, though he's generally a nice if shy kid who's well liked, he can be quite the delinquent when he wants to be. He does get into fights with other kids on occasion, and frequently cuts class (though he still manages to get decent grades somehow despite not being especially dedicated to his academic studies). He really doesn't like to listen to teachers or other adult authority figures, evidence in the fact that he frequently uses his A-Ts on school grounds, despite it being against school rules, and despite the fact that he (as well as his friends) are constantly yelled at and lectured for doing so. He also won't think anything of trespassing on school property at night, or on private property.
Generally speaking he's pretty mellow and goes with the flow. He's more then willing to do whatever his friend and team leader tells him to do, not matter what.... except if those orders happen to involve the risk of falling into water of considerable depth as he can't swim and is somewhat aquaphobic on top of that (baths and being on big sturdy boats seem to cancel this phobia out though). Though after minimal prodding and being yelled at he'll eventually do that as well. Outside of parts wars he's a normal kid who loves running, goofing off online, and playing with his dog, Jiwa.
When he sets his mind to something he'll do it, no matter what. He got obscenely good with his A-Ts so quickly because he dedicated every spare moment to training and practicing. He practices more then anyone else on his team because he thought himself weak and didn't want to screw anything up and end up holding the rest of his friends back. His efforts were rewarded by eventually gaining the skills and superhuman speed needed to become the next Flame King. He's also quite good at thinking things through logically and analyzing the situation to quickly to find the easiest and best solution to an issue. Unlike most speed type people he's very much a look before he leaps type instead of the other way around.
Even when he was in elementary school when he wanted to get good at something there was no stopping him. When he wanted to get better at playing a game similar to tag he ran for hours so he could get faster. A friend, jealous of his progress, stole his shoes, but Kazu kept running anyways, even if he had to run barefoot and got blisters on his feet because of this. Sometimes this can act a little against him, if he's not feeling nervous in a fight and he's beginning to find himself in a tight spot he might push himself too far, or take dangerous measures that have a high chance of ending with him injured. In these really tight situations he has a tendency to act rashly, and not think things through to level that he usually does, which does not always end well for him.

[ The screen flickers on, and a young blonde man appears, looking somewhat embarrassed. He opens his mouth and promptly shuts it a few times, as if he can't really decide what he wants to say. He fiddles with the edge of his beanie for a moment, until he finally speaks. ]
So... um, I had some laundry hanging outside my apartment window. Put it out this morning and I just went to check on it and there were a few things missing...
[He looks away from the camera awkwardly and swallows a lump in his throat. This is ridiculously embarrassing and he doesn't really want to continue.]
Look whoever did it... I really don't want to know, uh, WHY you decided to take my boxers. I'd just like them back, okay? Please? Look, I'll even leave a laundry basket outside my door, I won't even watch it or anything, it'll be totally anonymous.
[ He tugs his beanie down further, almost over his eyes. Oh god this was embarrassing. Like if it had just been a shirt or something then he could rationalize that someone had fallen into a puddle in the middle of the night and saw his laundry as convenient dry clothes or something. But nothing good ever came out of stealing someone's underpants. Nothing. He still wrote his name on the tag too. After a silent and awkward moment he decides to put himself out of this temporary misery and the video feed cuts out. God even if someone DID decide to return them his only real option here was to burn the damn things and be done with it. ]
THIRD PERSON;
So there were good things and bad things with this whole 'Wow I'm in a Digital World' thing. The good was definitely this Digimon partner thing. It was cool, like he was living one of those monster raising video games. It was nice too that his very own digimon partner came in various sizes depending on how extreme the battle was. Battles too, those were pretty cool. Kazu was no stranger to getting into fights and he had to admit it was a lot easier with a partner at his side telling him not to worry, that everything was going to be OKAY. He didn't freeze up as often in front of and intimadating enemy
The bad though... definitely being separated from his old friends and team mates. He'd made some new friends since coming here, sure, but it wasn't quite the same. The other bad... no speed. He felt down right sluggish. It wasn't just his A-Ts not working properly. He just plain couldn't move like he did before he came here. Kinda bummed him out.
It was for this reason that he was attracted to steep hills like this.
A very steep hill, and he was at the top of it, his digimon partner sitting on his shoulders clinging to his head like his life depended on it. And considering what he was about to do.
"Kazu, this doesn't strike me as the most intelligent idea you've ever come up with," his partner squeaked.
"Relax. I actually know what I'm doing here," he laughed and adjusted his hat, "Just hang tight, this is gonna be fun."
Sure maybe some of the big scary monsters around here freaked him out to the point of making him shake. But something like this? The prospect of going really really fast wasn't frightening. It was exhilarating. He couldn't NOT smile as he kicked off from the top of the hill, careening down the narrow little path at a breakneck speed. He loved this feeling, the wind in his face the world blurring past him. It wasn't even half as fast, probably not even a quarter, of the speeds he could normally accelerate to. But it was something. A small taste of the best feeling in the world.
